How To Organize A Community/Charity Craft Project
How To Organize A Community/Charity Craft Project
I am guessing here, but you are probably thinking 'It's already October?!' and that means the holiday season and everything that goes with it comes into focus. This year, though, why not consider doing something crafty for the forgotten citizens in your own community to show someone cares?
This fall, an article I wrote called "Knit a Difference: The DIY Guide to Starting your Own Local Charity Knitting Project" which appears in the current issue of Knitty.com.
Even though the article is about a knitting project, the information and advice are applicable to anyone wishing to start any kind of community project. I took my experiences from I clothing drive I organized for a Vancouver women's shelter and added the sage wisdom of charity craft campaign mavens from afghans for Afghans, Mother Bear Poject and Warm Up! America.
Why not get active in your community this year instead of crafting for friends and loved ones already the recipients of your crafty love? It could just change the lives of your fellow citizens if not your own.
